REUNION IX~ 2014
The Ninth Annual Charlie Company Reunion was held again at the Hilton Cincinnati Airport in Florence, KY on June 6 & 7, 2014. There were 75 of us having a great weekend that seemed to fly by! We had seven vets attend the reunion for the first time: Ben Wilson, Doug Baker, Dwight Cole, Harry Benich, Ken Griesman, Mike Olshefski and Richard Scott! Also attending with these vets were Joyce Wilson, Mary Baker, Sharon Cole, Marsha Benich, Filippa Griesman. Ronnie Williams son, Nathan; Roland Watts grandson, Ari Foster; Ken and Filippa’s nephews, Anthony & Fabpriezo; and friends of Eddie & Maggie Daniels, Willie & Arceola Copeland, were also new to the reunion.
One special guest who is not a first timer and wasn't even in the Army but was a Marine in WWII was Ms. Grace! Patty and I received a sweet card from her (I doubt if we were the only ones as she loves to write) saying how much she enjoyed being with Charlie Company again! It's a mutual adoption... we love seeing her each year too.
Our official photographer, Milt Houghton, has sent his photos and they are posted on our website. If you have pictures you'd like posted, please send them to be included with Milt's. Other reunion pictures are on Facebook. Tony Nunes has set up a closed group on Facebook <C 120> for Charlie Co. members only. Pat Bingham has set up a group for the ladies <C 1/20 Charlie's Angels > so check these out if you're on Facebook but not already a member.
We have the Hilton booked for our Tenth Annual Reunion on June 5 & 6, 2015 and the tearoom reserved Saturday. The golfers/hecklers will be out that morning. The Hilton's price is still $85 per night and is good 3 days before and 3 days after the event. Mark your calendars!
Reunion note from Marsha (Harry) Benich
My husband Harry is incredibly grateful to have spent time with (John Loeb & Richard Rey) and reconnect after so many years. Richard tracked him down within the last year and they met up a couple times before the reunion. The last correspondence Harry had with John was over thirty years ago. This reunion was our first. Meeting and exchanging with the rest of the "guys" has been a huge step in his healing process. He has never been willing to openly acknowledge his service before. John brought him this Viet Nam Veteran cap and he has been wearing it ever since. My description of our reunion experience was joyful, comforting, touching, heart-warming, heart breaking and sorrowful all in one. But we both agree, overwhelmingly joyful thanks to everyone's welcoming spirit.
