Reunion IV ~ 2009
We are growing! Eighty-three people attended the fourth annual Charlie Company reunion at the Hilton Cincinnati Airport on June 12-13! The score was 42 for those who have attended a reunion before and 41 for those who were attending for the first time. Another bonus was about one half of the group arrived on the eleventh to get an early start on the reunion!
We had a group shopping at the Florence Antique Mall Friday afternoon and they returned in time for the official opening reception at 3:00 p.m. We had a buffet that night at the Hilton followed by our business meeting.
The golfers were heading out early Saturday morning to the Boone Links GC and many of the ladies had a great time at Yesterday's Cafe & Tea Room for brunch. Just like the previous two days, many were in the hospitality room sampling the regional refreshments, swapping stories, looking at pictures and trying to catch up with one another after forty years.
We had another buffet Saturday night followed by our Awards and Memorial Toast. A prize was presented to the vet who traveled the longest distance and the shortest distance to be at the reunion and also one to the lowest score of the twelve golfers. We had a drawing for a beautiful quilt that was donated. Our custom is to end our reunion with a tribute to Charlie Company's KIA's with a memorial toast.
We have already set up June 4 & 5 as the dates of 2010's reunion and we will be returning to the Hilton in Florence, KY. It is hard to believe how much we have grown beyond the seventeen who attended the first reunion! Start making your plans to join us next year. Visit our web site at for more details and more pictures.

Those three not pictured will be published at another issue. Chuck and Cindi Seketa, representing 1st Battalion 20th Infantry, were also present and may be spotted in several of the photos online.

Business Meeting Report
Mike Stinnett presented a brief Finance Report along with a promise to present the final one later so here are the balances of 2008-2009. Our Board has approved these reports monthly according to our financial policy and this is the group's yearly notification. We had Cash on Hand at the beginning of the 2008-2009 year of $275.56 and ended the year (reunion to reunion) with a balance of $308.57.
We had forty dues paying members last year totaling $800 and Newsletter expenses of $1,168.29. Most of the other Income and Expenses of the year were Reunion related where the Income and the Expense balanced out. For instance, our Balance Sheet Income included $2,560 for 128 meals Friday and Saturday night and that amount was an Expense when we paid the Hilton.
Our current balance after the reunion is $2,864.57. We already have sixty-four who have paid dues this year! The Other Income is from donations by James Chisholm, Mike Dove, Joe Francomcaro, James Stephens, and Jimmie Dubose totaling $235. We received $620 from the sale of raffle tickets for the quilt Mary Ann Kinch made and donated and $171 from the sale of the Charlie Cat t-shirts Mark Knepp had made up and donated. We also received $250 from NKYCVB for holding our reunion in Northern Kentucky.
We have not incurred any expenses yet although this newsletter and three more will be paid for before the next reunion along with some expected reunion expenses.
Another item presented by Mike Feltes and was approved concerned our deceased protocol. It was decided that we would continue to let our group know of a death via email and newsletter reports but sending flowers or other acknowledgements should not be expected from our group. Several have made a personal donation for flowers in one instance and felt a personal method should be our policy.
Two other items of note are related to our outreach efforts. Dan Malin reported that we are now mailing over 200 newsletters and qualify for bulk rates on each issue. We do have about thirty who have opted to receive a copy of the newsletter digitally through email. Our three-year contract with GoDaddy for our domain name and web hosting will expire in 2010. Approval was granted for Mike Stinnett to renew this contract before next year's reunion to ensure continuous operation.
