B. The Wall

Jim Emerson & Tom Turner are going to meet at the Wall in Washington DC this fall and want to know if other vets would be interested in meeting them there. Time has not been established at this point. Contact turners@diodecom.net for more details .

C. Newsletter

Jim MacDonald asked about a newsletter. Email contacts are up-to-date but someone could compile messages, etc. and, once a quarter, send them to all email contacts. Anyone good at writing newsletters? We could have current email contacts volunteer to mail those on our snail mail list and be responsible for sending a few rather than one person doing all of this.

WE DID GET VOLUNTEERS TO CREATE A NEWSLETTER AND TO PRINT AND MAIL THEM OUT.   NAMES AND DETAILS WILL BE COMING SOON. THE FIRST ISSUE COULD BE ABOUT THE REUNION AND WE MAY ASK FOR A FEW LINES FROM YOU CONCERNING YOUR REUNION "EXPERIENCE" AND NAMES AND ADDRESSES FOR "SNAIL-MAIL" CONTACTS.

D. Flowers or Gift Certificate for Ms. Kitty

Ms. Kitty is a lady who has been instrumental in helping many vets connect with others. Some of you are here today because of her work. We have thought it would be a nice gesture of thanks from Charlie Company to send her flowers or a gift.

APPROVED AND HAT (BUSH TYPE TO BE EXACT) WAS PASSED AND $100 WAS COLLECTED TO SHOW OUR APPRECIATION FOR WHAT SHE HAS DONE TO HELP US LOCATE ONE ANOTHER.

E. Domain Name & Web Site

Create a permanent web site for the company rather than current free space at BellSouth. The Webmaster of Chuck's web site and the Webmaster of the 11th Brigade web site both have recommended GoDaddy. On May 31, a GoDaddy representative gave the following costs: registering a domain name for one year is $1.99 and $8.99 every year after. Charlie1-20 is not registered and he thought this would be a good, easy name to remember. Hosting the site would cost $43.05 a year with 5G of storage. This would also include access to Online Photo Filer for storing images and could be linked with web site and will also have another 2.5G storage available. Discounts are given for each extra year you sign up. It's $76.50 for two years and $100.80 for three years. There is free shareware for a Guest Book feature.

THIS ITEM WAS APPROVED AND THE 3-YEAR SIGN-UP WITH GODADDY RECOMMENDED. THREE QUICK DONATIONS BY SNAKE, JERSEY AND TRACE AMPLY TOOK CARE OF THE COST BEFORE WE PASSED THE HAT AGAIN! THEY WOULDN'T EVEN WAIT UNTIL THE MEETING WAS OVER!

F. Reward and Dues

We will be getting a " reward " for coming to the northern KY area since the NKYCVB people were involved this year. It should be at least $100 for a small group. Larger groups get more money...if we have 50 or more room nights, we should get $250. How do we handle this money? Should we have dues , maybe $5-$10 to cover miscellaneous costs? Should we elect someone to be treasurer?

G. Committee

Establish a small committee to recommend a mission statement and basic by-laws of our organization. For instance, are we just meeting for reunions or do we also want to establish projects such as putting flowers on those KIA each Memorial Day.

WE COMBINED ITEMS F. & G. FOR DISCUSSION PURPOSES. THE CONSENSUS OF THE GROUP IS TO KEEP THE INFORMALITY AT THIS TIME AND CONTINUE CONCENTRATING ON NEW CONTACTS AND THE REUNION ASPECT THAT IS NOW GOING ON. ROSOLINO PIZZILLO VOLUNTEERED TO ACT AS TREASURER AND THAT WAS APPROVED. AFTER DISCUSSION, IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT WE HAVE DUES OF $10 FOR EXPENSES INCURRED THIS PAST YEAR AND ANY BEFORE OUR REUNION NEXT YEAR. THE REWARD MONEY FROM NKYCVB WOULD BE ADDED TO THIS FUND.

H. Next Reunion

Chuck Seketa is still planning a battalion reunion next year but won't have complete information until June or July. After meeting with him and other company representatives last year in Indianapolis, email contacts were asked if they wanted to be a part of the battalion reunion. The response was favorable AS LONG AS we could meet together as a company. There wasn't much interest if "Charlie" guys weren't going to be there. Of course, that was one of the things we addressed and stressed in the prelim meeting.... we should have a separate meeting rooms, business meeting & all that. Do you want to support the battalion reunion? Just Charlie Company? Both? Neither?

MEETING WITH THE BATTALION NEXT SEPTEMBER 2008 IN INDIANAPOLIS WOULD BE ACCEPTABLE AS LONG AS WE HAVE A COMPANY HOSPITALITY ROOM. IT WAS FELT THAT A BATTALION AND A CHARLIE COMPANY MEETING WOULD BE TOO MUCH AND NO ONE WANTED THE "NEITHER" CHOICE!

2007 Reunion feedback

    1. Would you want to come back to this area for another reunion? YES
    2. How was the experience from hotel, etc. standpoint? Willing to come back here? EXCELLENT AND YES
    3. Would you have preferred a group dinner Friday night and group breakfast Saturday morning? Cookout? ALL THESE WOULD BE ACCEPTABLE
    4. Would you want a registration fee for the reunion to cover banquet cost, drinks, and refreshments? THIS WOULD BE OKAY.... THE FEE MAY BE BASED UPON WHAT OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE AND WHETHER OR NOT YOU MIGHT WANT TO PARTICIATE IN THEM.
    5. Other ideas to improve the reunion? ALL FEEDBACK WAS POSITIVE!

Other Business

IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT WE SEND CARDS ON BIRTHDAYS AND ANNIVERSERYS AND FLOWERS FOR MEMORIALS. THIS WAS APPROVED. TEN DOLLARS WILL BE ADDED TO THE DUES AND DESIGNATED FOR THAT EXPENDITURE. DETAILS WILL BE WORKED OUT AND YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED FURTHER ABOUT THE PLANS.

TWENTY DOLLARS WAS COLLECTED FROM EACH VET PARTICIPATING IN THE DUES AND REMEMBERANCE.
